Summary
Seagen is seeking a highly motivated Research Associate to join the Formulation and Drug Product Sciences (FDPS) function in our Pharmaceutical Sciences organization. The Research Associate II independently performs experiments that are routine in nature with minimal variation in design and execution. They plan and execute more complex experiments under the direction of others. They compile data in electronic laboratory notebooks, create summaries, and analyze data. They occasionally present at group or department meetings. They collaborate cross functionally and use scientific literature to support experimental work.
Responsibilities:
- Applies theories and techniques of process, assay/method development, and/or manufacturing operations
- Executes formulation or DP development work, analysis, and reduction of data to conclusions with supervision
- Perform analytical testing of samples under supervision. Interprets data and troubleshoots problems with some guidance
- Develops experimental protocols and identifies experimental abnormalities that arise from the results. Conducts experiments and analyzes results leading to the development of robust formulations for antibody and antibody drug conjugate (ADC) drug substances and drug products
- Functions independently on routine assignments but may require guidance on more complex tasks or new projects
- Presents summarized results to lab group and department
- Authors technical documents and reports
- May collaborate cross-functionally
- May present internally to working groups
- Contributes to lab management and equipment maintenance; may be subject matter expert for specific equipment or technology
Qualifications:
- Hands-on experience in protein formulation or analytical development in the academic setting or biotechnology/pharmaceutical industry
- Some hands-on experience with chromatographic (e.g. SEC, RP, CEX) and electrophoretic (e.g. CE-SDS, iCIEF) techniques and other analytical methods
- Some practical experience with protein chemistry, degradation and stabilization mechanisms
- Ability to work independently with strong critical thinking skills
- Excellent oral and written communication skills
- Prior experience with documenting work in paper or electronic lab notebooks preferred
Education
- B.S. or M.S. in Pharmaceutical Sciences, Biochemistry, Biological Sciences, Chemical Engineering, or related discipline
- B.S. with 2+ years or M.S. with 0-2 yrs
